Default New to 2nd gens, not to Neons

A couple days ago I picked up a 2002 Neon R/T, black, fully loaded (leather, etc...) I wanted to get my truck off the road as the DD as well as have something fun to drive daily. This seems to fit the bill so far.

So far I do like it a lot better than my old 1st gen, which was a 99 Highline coupe.

I'm sure I'll be prowling around in this forum now that I got this for technical information, etc..

The brakes appeared to be original at 94k miles, I completely changed those today. The subframe bushings are bad. I bought new ones, but am looking for advice on the best way to change them. My repair manual says replace the control arms, but I know you can do just the bushings, and at about $30, versus $300 I'd rather change the bushings only. So if anyone has any link to a procedure or anything on doing this I'd appreciate it.

Other than that I plan on modding the car some, not sure to what extent yet. It looks to me like head/exhaust mods wouldn't be usefull with the R/T since they were already upgraded with the R/T package so I don't plan to change much there unless something goes bad. I mostly seem myself spending more time on suspension mods for the time behing until I decide where I'd like to go with powertrain mods. What options are out there for turboing this engine? Hahn made a kit for SOHC neons, but it wasn't for the magnum, and it has been discontinued anyway. Does anyone else make anything, or will it be more of a piece together type of deal? I don't seem myself going the SRT-4 swap route unless this motor dies, so for now, I'd like to stick with this one.

Any other advice on problem areas and modifications would be great.

I have no idea what subframe bushings your talking about
the crossmember is bolted right to the subframe(metal to metal)
hers a pic of suspension please tell me what part it is you are referring to
IMHO be happy with the 150HP if you want an SRT-4 then buy an SRT-4
heres the suspension

Oops, I actually meant control arm bushings. Never said I wanted an SRT-4, if I wanted one I would've bought one. I bought a DD that I can have some fun with.

R/ts are just as fun as srt4s and way better for daily driving. If you want to turbo it your should try ebay turbos . Im actually going to do the srt swap later in the spring and keep mine an auto. R/ts are really nice and good find. Control arm bushings just follow your manual thats what my husband always does . Good luck.

I agree you can go turbo, but I wouldn't buy an eBay turbo kit.

You can find a nice hahn or even the older turbosetups on ebay every now and than is what I meant . I would go with the turbo that dt went with . You can try the turboneon store they might be able to help you out with a dohc turbo kit.
