Default Side markers, blink with turn signals or not?

I have to get the car inspected tomorrow so I decided to go over the car today and make sure I had no bulbs burnt out anywhere. I did in fact have the third brake like bulb out so I replaced it, but I have a question about the front side marker lights.

On my first gen, these blinked with the turn signals, opposite of the front parking lights, meaning the blinking alternated between the front and side lights. On my '02, these side markers seem to have no function other than to be just that, a marker light. They do no blink at all with the turn signals, and only are on with the parking/headlights.

Can someone confirm this is correct for me so I can be sure it's not an issue? I would think these would blink. The only difference I see here between my 1st gen and my 2nd gen is that the front parking lights are more visible from the side and that maybe this is why the actual side markers do not blink.

That is the correct, factory function. You can wire them so they blink. I did that the other week; pretty neat little mod.

Thanks, I just wanted to make sure that there wasn't an issue with anything as far as a relay or whatnot that may control that if it was supposed to blink. Personally it doesn't matter to me if they blink, I just don't want a problem come inspection time.

FWIW, Sylvania's bulb catalog lists the bulb for the sidemarker lights as a 3757ALL, which is a dual filament bulb which at first also lead me to believe that they were to blink. When I removed the existing bulb it was apparent that their catalog is incorrect, but I still thought that maybe they should blink depending on how the wiring/logic was set up.

for safetys sake they should blink.
How is someone driving along side of you supposed to know that youve signaled to change lanes? Especially if they are in front of your tails

That is the blinker/parking light bulb. The sidemarker lights are listed as a 168 bulb, which is correct.

If they are in front of your taillights (next to you), it is your responsibility to merge anyways; not theirs to slow and let you in.
