The cam or crank sensor will cause a CEL always AFAIK. I was just saying as a general FYI.

Ok, the repair shop had the car all day.

they found out that it was cylinder 4 misfiring, but it was intermittent.

they switched spark plugs, spark wires, fuel injectors and new coil,
nothing helped, and it was all time number 4 misfiring.

so he was saying that they would need to open the engine to know more,
and so that would be a lot of labor, more than a thousand.. so forget it..

he was saying that maybe there was carbon deposit.. but then why just number 4 and not all of them..

Im going to put engine cleaner a few time and hope it helps..
the car is ok to drive, it's just annoying, especially when it's misfiring when it's changing gears..

any idea what it might be ?

Is any of the wiring to that cylinder's fuel injector bad?

a compression test(basic) or Leakdown test(detailed) would be a wise move before "tearing" into the engine. this would tell you if a valve is not closing due to carbon.
Crap would only have to remove a sparkplug, cant be a grand labour for that??

+1 to darth I would also verify #4 is getting fuel(that may cause a miss)
just focus on what #4 is not getting (either no spark, no fuel, or no compression)

IMHO they have already thrown too many parts at it, (I highly doubt U needed all those parts) fortunatley wires and plugs is good maitnenanece but 4 new injectors? seriously?
my advice dont let em touch any cylinder other than #4 as its the one with the problem

sorry, I should have explain more.

I did not buy anything, they just did tests, by moving around the fuel injectors, spark plugs and wires. They did a test with a new coil and didn't help either.
When they moved all those things around, it was all time cylindar 4 having issue.

darthroush, the spark wires were replaced a month ago. and they moved them around so I'm guessing those wires are fine, or you mean other wires ?

because that problem happened after the cam sensor went bad, I'm wondering if when it failed, it damaged something inside cylindar4..
but if a valve is bad, I would think it would misfire all time, not once a while..

they did not do a compression test.. I'll probably bring the car somewhere else to see what they say and do one too.

any of you did the sears "internal engine" or "fuel system" cleaning ?
I wonder if they really do something or if it's the same if I get a cleaner from advanced auto parts.

Thanks,

Could be a number of things inside the cylinder itself causing it to miss. I would do a leakdown test and compression test to see if you are getting good compression and if not where it is leaking from. Probably couldn't hurt to run some seafoam through there though.

Fuel injector wiring. Not spark plug wires.
