Default belt tensioner/pulley

2003 SXT the belt for ac and p/S keeps falling off. I changed the motor strut mounts2 weeks ago. I adjusted the position of the top mount as specified 4.7 inches. I noticed that the belt tensioner does have tension when you move it with a wrench but the pulley gas a slight wobble to it. Can this pulley be replaced and how difficult is it to replace. I am hoping that the movement of the pulley is what is causing the belt to jump off. I put a new belt on and as soon as I started the car the belt came off. Please help thanks

Yes, the pulley can be replaced. However, if the tensioner itself is bad, you have to replace the entire engine mount plate.

How can I remove the pulley? Do I need to take the entire engine apart to do it?

You have to remove the engine mount plate (that big silver thing that covers the whole upper side of the engine) to get the pulley off, according to the shop manual. Then you just unbolt the pulley and tighten the bolt down to 20 ft. lbs. when installing the new one.

I have taken the plunge and removed the idler pully. It was a lot of work but really was not that hard of a job. It took me about 2 1/2 hrs to complete. The dam part was $11. Everything else was just labor. They really did not think that one out when they built it. They could have just placed the bolt on the outside instead of the inside and it would have taken 5 mins to complete. Thanks to everyone that helped out with this post I appreciate the help

Seems the more labor that is involved, the less the part costs. I got Moog outer tie-rod ends for like $50 each. Took 5 minutes to change them out. Moog lower ball joints cost me about $15 each, and took a few hours to do.
