Default 2004 SX Tans Swap**

I need help. I got a 2004 Dodge SX 2.0. Believe its a 4 speed auto. My problem is the clutches on 3rd n 4th gears are shot. What kind of trans do I have to put in? Can I get from a 1st gen? or 2000 and up? and mods needed? ecu? Need help car has been sitting since aug. Miss my baby!

2003-2005 would be a direct swap; no other.

2003-2005 used the 41TE.
2002 used the 40TE.
2000-2001 used the 31TH.

That's why...

is there a way around it? something I could change to make that a diff trans work?

Your PCM/TCM, wiring harness and possibly other things, depending which one. Basically, much more work than to just find the correct transmission.

41TE is a very common transmission. I would probably try to find one out of a Neon close to your year seeing as it would probably have all the same mounting hardware and electrical connectors and what have you but they also used the same transmission on many of their minivans and small FWD cars.


Basically this is how you can identify the transmission that is in your car.

4-4 speed
1-0-9 torque capacity
T-Transaxle
E-Electronic
