Hello Everyone,

Glad I found this forum looks like a great place to chat about cars and all to do with them.

Here is my problem if you have a solution please let me know.

My Fiance has a 00 Neon and sometimes when she puts the key in the door and unlocks it the factory alarm goes off when the door is opened. So she has to jump into it and start the car to get the alarm to shut off. Any help would be great. Thanks in advance.

does she have two keys? if so try the other key. it the other key does it as well, it must be something with the car, if it doesnt do it, then you know its the key. might be something wrong with the chip inside of the key

 

Yeah I agree, the keys have a chip in them as a theft deterant, and if one is messed up youre gonna have to get a new key made from the dealer. Ive seen blanks for sale on like ebay and stuff, but Im not sure how the car would read the blank chip in that key... so yeah go figure. But if it only happens with the key and not the unlocker thingy-majig (sorry havin a blonde moment right now) I would say thats the issue.
