Default p0344 code even after sensor replacement

hey guys my 05 sxt is in limp mode. when i do the "key dance" p0344 comes up. according to my searches its the camshaft sensor. well i replaced that with a new gasket and reset the code but it still comes up. after more searching i found that the crankshaft sensor might need to be replaced so i replaced that and still nothing. what else might be the cause of this?

Get the actual code, as far as I'm concerned the key dance isn't a reliable method.

Could also be the wiring to either; forgot to say that. The key dance has always gotten me the same codes that my scanner has pulled up. *shrugs*

You may also want to consider that you bought a sensor that was a dud. Aftermarket prox sensors are notorious for failing right out of the box. I had it happen to my 300M; I replaced the cam sensor, and a month later the new sensor failed. I took the "new" sensor back to the auto parts store and got a free replacement, and I never had a problem ever again. If I recall the sensor was made by BWD and I bought it at Advance Auto. Not saying this is your problem, but it is still a possibility you may want to keep in mind.

No write-up. It's right under the sensor though. If the wiring really is good, then the magnet is the only thing left that I can think of in that circuit.

The very last possibility is that the timing belt is off a tooth or so.

okay i got the magnet and put it in. i still have the code. i inspected the wiring from the camshaft position sensor and none of it is burned but the black plastic thing that was around them it brittle and mostly gone. I'm at my wits end.

how can i check the timing belt?
