I usually get SKF bearings, races and seals. I haven't had an issue with them.

I replaced the bearing, it went smoothly, following the procedure in the 00-02 FSM link; it fixed the noise, made my Sweetheart happy.

I bought the FSK bearing from RockAuto for $38 including shipping. The dealer asks $95 + tax for theirs, I think it is the same part.

The savings on the bearing make the bearing splitter alot easier to swallow, I paid $115.00 for a brand new splitter, now I have one for life. Still cheaper than paying to have it done, the best labor quote was $160.00, highest was $185.00.

Nobody has mentioned the speedometer cable comming loose, had this happen on my Toyota 4runners and the faster you go the more deffening the sound gets, not saying that's the problem but i too also thought wheel bearings at first.

Ahh see I didn't notice there was a second page, that's what I get for not paying attention.

Mine's still on one page. I have the number of posts per page set to the max. I hate going through "pages" of posts.

Thanks, there's nothing like my Baby's good will. I diagnosed WB fairly conclusively by using a mechanic stethoscope, this was the first time I've ever put an s'scope to good use. The non failing bearing made a faint whisper of a noise, the failing one was quite loud.
