Default not shifting gears (help please)

I have a 2004 Dodge Neon SXT. I am gonna describe the best I can. Ok, when I get up to about 55mph my car doesnt want to shift gears. It makes a sound as if I was pressing the gas then letting up pressing the gas then letting up. My check engine light isnt on. But when I had it checked at a dealership they told me that it was the transmission module or TCM. But what Im wanting to know is... Do this model car have one? And is that whats causing my car to not shift gears?

Yes and it can. Also, sometimes it take more than three and a half hours to get a response in the middle of a weekday.

The car should go higher than 55 even out of overdrive. OP, do you know what codes there were? Just because the CEL isn't on, doesn't mean there aren't codes. The dealership had to have found something to arrive at that conclusion.

I bought an new, updated Borg-Warner unit off of eBay (BW makes the OEM unit) for about $200. Installed it carefully myself. It's not too hard to do. Should only take like an hour or two to install.
