Do the key dance. All you have to do is turn the key from the "Off" position to the "On" position 3 times in a row within 10 seconds. The third time you get to the "On" position, leave it there and the codes will show where the mileage is.

Hey, that's handy! Still only pulling emissions control small leak, now 2 separate codes, 442 and 456... However, now it won't start, won't even crank. I hear an electrical...something, almost the same sound as a window going up, for about 3-5 seconds while i hold the key down, before it gives up... Starter/spark plugs?

Edit: then again, i probably have several blown fuses.

So here's what happened.

Took water in through the air intake. "Hydro-locked" a cylinder and bent one of my pistons.

Shop has to take the engine apart and replace the piston, valve something or other, valve cover, some ring, yadda yadda... Should I start planning my bank robbery now?

If you aren't doing the work, yeah. Might be easier (and it will be cheaper) to find a used engine and just replace the whole thing.

Anyone know what it would entail to just have them put a whole new engine in? Hey maybe I can upgrade to a better engine, eh??? :-/
