and this also means u have a cold coil

if coil was frozen suction line would be icy too(this u can see under the hood)

@ this point of the year, i doubt i'll have the problem again. next trip of any length i have planned won't be untill october, and then it's just gonna sit in an airport parkinglot for a week.. if she crops her head up next summer, i'll have some leads.
not exactly, even with the blistering heat we've had lately, i've not had the a/c issue repeat itself..yet...
and kinda oddly to me yesterday(7/7/12) second day of triple digit temps second week temps 90+, that car ran the smoothest it's run in a long time.... everything just felt...fluid... guess she was missing the TX heat these last couple years.

It sounds like your evaporator is freezing up.
Try this, put your hand on the bigger A/C line going into the firewall when this happens. It is normal to feel coolness and condensation but if it feels frozen, no good.
There are many things that can cause a Evap to freeze up, it also depends on what kind of A/C system the vehicle is equipped with. If I recall these vehicles use a Fixed-Orifice tube type system.
-Low pressure cycling switch stuck
-Poor aiflow through evaporator, it may be dirty or something is blocking it
-Low Charge may also result in freeze up.
It would be good if you had a set of pressure gauges, those are the most effective way of diagnosing A/C concerns.
