Default Transmission issue

I have an 05 Neon SXT its a manual transmission and for some reason it will not go into reverse anymore. All my forward gears work fine just when I try to put it in reverse its hits like a wall like its not even there, The gromit for the shift arm is worn out but kinda just made one myself... does that gromit have something to do with letting you shift to reverse or do I just need a new transmission?

that grommet is very important as the cable end will not move in the EXACT place for gear selection then the lever thats is moved by the cable isnt pointin to the right gear

2 cables on ur tranny one is specifically for the reverse
If you've fixed the cable ends at the tranny the wear maybe on the cable ends inside the car

Thanks a ton I'm pretty sure its the cable and not the tranny itself the more I researched it. Going out in the Texas heat now to play around with it!
