Here's what happend. someone slid into a curb and bent the rear rim, the got a gen1 neon rim and it fit, then never rotated tires. then the new guy buys the car, goes to rotate the tire and finds the rim locks againt the caliper. the person that did it just got lucky that the replacement rim was fine on the rear. that's how this happens.

Like I said about minivan rims vs concorde. say I had a damaged rear minivan rim and I see a pile of concorde rims... it fits the rear hub, looks the same, I'd probably go with it since they look IDENTICAL. but upon very careful examination, I can see the difference but you just about have to have both right in front of your face to see the difference. in otherwords #hit happens. Quality people figure out how to solve the problem instead of blaming others.

I think these incorrect rims fit 95-99 neons with 5 lug ( I own a 1999 expresso 2 door). The rims I got at the junkyard were off a 2003. Only problem is the slot for the tire valve is in the wrong spot and the original hubcaps don't mate up right. I will have to remove the hubcap to put air in the tire. Oh well, at least it goes now.
