Default CKP/CMP sensor tests

Yesterday on my way home from work I went to press down the gas pedal and the car shuddered, and after a while of coasting eventually quit on me without starting back up. I borrowed a scan tool and P1391 (intermittent CKP/CMP failure) was the main fault. After the car cooled down it would start up and drive until it reached normal operating temperature and start the shudder and quitting again. My father helped me tow it home where it currently is setting on ramps. I know the locations of both sensors but being without an o-scope I have no idea how to test either sensor. Are there any tricks to use to maybe attempt to diagnose which sensor it is?

I believe you are looking for 5V power. Here's a page I found with testing procedures for both sensors: http://troubleshootmyvehicle.com/ind...articles_1.php

This is exactly the thing I was looking for!!! I've already bought a crank sensor, but if these tests prove either or it'll save me money in the long run! Thanks again Darthroush you sir are one of this board's saviors!
