hi there hoping some one can shed some light on my issue 03 sxt 5 speed when i step on the gas the tach will go up and i can hear the engine race however acceleration is poor?? tach will say go up to 3k but and engine seems to rev but acceleration seems to have not got the message and tach drops back down. i did have a engine light on with gas cap code and down stream 02 sensor which i replaced no engine light on now. i just replaced spark plugs about 2mo ago at best car was running fine then just really noticed this issue within the last couple weeks. anyone have a solution?? would a failing ignition coil cause this?

quick thought is the clutch slipping?

 

well i would say that it almost does act like the clutch is pushed in when it does it but it seems to shift fine and if i just apply slow steady gas pedal pressure it does ok but if i really just give it some gas especially in 5th gear it will rev the tach will go up but the car doesn't respond to the tach but instead kinda accelerates at a slower rate then the tach will drop back does this without pressing on the clutch though after already shifted in gear say on the highway. do you think that somehow there is some kind of issue with the clutch that would possibly cause this when its not even being used?
