Hey guys new here, not sure if you have a build section on this forum haven't looked to deep into it yet but anyways like I said in the introduction thread my name is David and I have a 2005 Dodge Neon SXT 5 speed that i want to start building up here soon.
I started reading into the performance thread stickied up top but haven't gotten to deep into it just yet. I wanna focus on making it look good first and I'm not talking like a ricer set up I want something that really stands out of the crowd. So I was thinking a General Lee paintjob I searched google images and found a neon with it done and it looked amazing so I wanna do that to mine but I'm worried if i might run into any copyright issues? Possibly a slight body kit mainly side skirts but no oversized bumpers. Can you guys point me in the right direction on that?
So anyways when I bought the car it was like a dream come true, didn't even have 60,000 miles on it and amazing condition except for a few barely noticeable dents on it. All stock except for a new deck and 2 MTX magnum subs and a 250 watt amp in the back. Since then I have sold the subs and amp and replaced them with 2 brand new Orion XTR 12s and a 1200 watt interfire amp also installed 2 new pioneer 6x9s in the rear, will have to get matching ones for the doors soon. Hits pretty good but gonna need a capacitor because as it is now the amp draws to much power and everything dims when the bass hits and the amp isn't even pushing full power yet. So anyways onto the other stuff, I have installed 8.5mm MSD ignition wires and a glass pack that I'll replace eventually with a performance setup but I'm having a lot of trouble finding parts, summit has a few things from what I can tell but outside of that I'm lost.

I don't think you'd have copyright problems, in that painting the confederate flag on something probably wouldn't be considered "original." For the stereo, I encourage you to upgrade all of the grounds in the engine bay with bigger wire, as well as sanding the paint off from under the grounds that are attached to painted body parts. Just make sure you put some dielectric grease on everything too to prevent corrosion.

What else are you looking for exactly? Might help to just create a neat, organized list. Use the bullets option

 

• Best quality racing seats with 4 point harnesses for around 200-300 per seat
• What setup would be the best with a Hahn Racecraft Turbo kit?
• Would the Nitrous Oxide intercooler upgrade system on modernperformance be worth the money?
• Where can I shave some un-needed weight off the car? Whats the weight and strength difference between stock and carbon fiber?

• Is megasquirt the only available ECU or are there others now?

Just a few questions to start off I'll ask more questions as I think of them, only reason I'm asking most of these is because of how old the posts in the performance thread are, so possibly new info has come out since then?

 

1. For $150, you'll be reaching very far. Probably something like the Summit Racing brand seats.
2. Set-up as in...what to do to the engine/fuel system, etc.? For a bigger throttle body, you'll probably need to get a Mustang one and fab the adapter for the sensors, unless you can find one for sale. No one that I know of is making them anymore. Fuel upgrades wouldn't be too different that what [should] be in the performance FAQ, unless you are going with a big turbo. I think the factory fuel system is capable of a decent amount; maybe just a fuel pump swap.
3. Probably not unless you are rebuilding your engine decently for the turbo kit, at which point, there are probably better turbo kits out there to begin with, such as ASP.
4. Anything you don't need in the interior. Center console, seats, door panels, spare tire, trim, radio, speakers, insulation, etc. Weight difference between like hoods and such? Enough to make it worthwhile if you are going for the lightest possible set-up. For a DD, no. It's a look thing in that situation.
5. I believe AEM makes one, but Megasquirt is what most use. You aren't paying for the AEM name.
