Default New member with some questions! 2003 SXT

Hey All,

I just inherited a 2003 SXT from my wife's grandfather who no longer cares to drive (or leave his apartment, for that matter) and it's going to make a fine daily driver from what I can tell so far. The car runs great and seems to sip fuel, which is great news as I commute a good 35 miles daily.

It's only got 49k on the clock and has been maintained well from what grandpa tells me. The only issue I'm having is some rough vibration while accelerating. My experience with cars tells me it's a bad motor mount, but perhaps someone in here can steer me in the right direction? It also had a check engine light so I checked it out for free at Advance Auto Parts and I got the following code: P0441 evaporative emission system – incorrect purge flow. I cleared the code and it has not come back in two days but I suspect a bad 02 sensor (or something to that effect).

Also, is there any other major maintenance that I should perform at this point? It does have low mileage, but I'd rather be safe than sorry. I don’t mind throwing some money into the car since I just got out of a $390 a month lease!

Any help would be appreciated! I hope to learn enough in here to be a contributing member someday.

Other cars in the stable at the moment:

1990 BMW 325is (currently undergoing a restoration project)
2008 Toyota Sequoia SR5 - 5.7 (wife’s spaceship)

The first part does sound like a bad motor mount. P0441 is an EVAP problem, likely the purge solenoid or NVLD. I get P0440 and P0441 on and off. No biggie if you aren't smogging the car.

Appreciate the response!

I did some reading and found your instructions for replacing them. I might take a stab at it! I've done moderate mechanic work in the past (suspension, exhaust, etc) so it seems like something I can tackle.

Any idea what part numbers I'd need to replace all the mounts? Also, could you point me to an online parts shop that has good prices? Aside from helping my brother install an intake on his SRT-4 a few years back (now gone), I know absolutely nothing about these cars.

Greatly appreciate the help and warm welcome so far.

Part numbers are in the maintenance thread at the top of the page. I suggest going with an OEM engine mount though. I've found out the aftermarket mounts are not fluid-filled like the factory and are likely the cause of the vibrations people get after using them. The aftermarket torque struts are fine though.

I'll have to update that thread later with the Mopar number.
