Default Head and Head work

I was wondering if anyone knew the measurements when machining a head to give it more horsepower. what i could get away with without having to replace or tweak any other parts on the motor. ( was told i wouldnt have to ) I am currently replacing a head gasket. and thought why not give my car a power boost since im already got it all apart. I have looked online for some measurements and havent found any. I really dont know where else to look. any ideas would be amazing. btw its a 2.0 sohc and its a 2000 neon motor.

You could shave the head, but you might need to run a higher octane gasoline. You could also change out the camshaft with something like a Crane 12, I believe it is.

if i shave the head how much can i take off without making it so i have to replace other parts. I already run high octane gas so that isnt a issue. got any ideas on measurements?

No idea on measurements. The machine shop should know that, providing they know what they are doing.
