I have a 2004 Dodge 2.0SX and sometimes I find that when I go to take off the engines slows down/dies out. It keeps going however there is a slow down and can be dangerous when in the middle of an intersection. What could be the cause of this?

 

Old plugs and wires?

 

my car has done this a few times over the years but only once in a great while only when i try to take off, i just push in the clutch feather the gas peddle and it will go away twice though i had to turn the car off and turn it right back on and it ran fine, but this only happens like once every six months, never have figured out the problem but of course never spent much time trying since its a rare problem, but would like to figure it out.
