Unhappy Please Help :/

Okay I have a 2005 Dodge Neon SXT, I love my car and never had any problems out of it until about July of last year. The problems subsided and I thought I had just simply gotten a hold of bad fuel. For the past month my check engine light has been coming back on, it will be on sometimes and sometimes it won't. At first I thought it was bad fuel again but now I think otherwise.
Problems I am having include;
1. Sometimes the car won't start and in order for it to start, I have to push on the accelerator while cranking the engine.

2. When it tries to change gears it sometimes sputters, or jerks.

3. At times, I won't have any problems even with the CEL is on, but at others when I hit 60MPH it starts jerking and missing.

4. It feels resistant.

5. When the CEL the Cruise Control does not work, or if it is on while the CEL is off, it kicks off the Cruise Control and the light comes back on.

Does anyone know what is going on and will you help me? I don't know much about cars, but I don't have the money to take it to a garage.. I would really appreciate some help

If the CEL is coming on, there should be some codes. With the door shut and the key out of the ignition, put the key in and turn it on, off, on, off, and then on once more. There should be a code displayed in the odometer window. It might take a few times to get it right, but just don't give up. When it does, take note of the code(s) and look them up. There are links on the forum. They will give you more specific information about the problem.

Another thing to consider: is the air filter clogged? When was the oil last changed? What's the transmission fluid level?
