2003 sxt auto shifting hard between gears but not consistant
I have been searching for an answer to this and havent been very lucky. So here goes. I have a 2003 sxt with an auto tranny. It was stuck in limp mode so i replaced both speed sensors and the TCM. That took care of it being in limp mode and it drives pretty well. Now the problem i'm having is that when it shifts from 1-2 or 2-3 it seems to slam into gear hard. And it doesnt happen every time. It's very sporatic. I don't know if its maybe when i was changing the TCM i wasn't careful enough when getting the old gasket off and maybe it plugged the new TCM. I really had no choice it was caked on pretty hard and had to scrape it with a razor. I tried to lightly spray the holes out with an air hose very lightly hoping that the existing tranny fluid left in the holes would splash out the particles. I really don't want to take it in when i can work on it. The engine light is on and i have not taken it to have the codes read with a reader but the on/off key reader just says P0700. If you guys have any suggestions please please let me know. Thanks in advance!
Do you mean the solenoid pack? Clogging it if not being careful will cause a problem. Did you gouge the mounting surface at all? The key dance will only let you know there are transmission codes stored in the TCM. You need a reader to get the codes from the TCM.

Yes I'm sorry it is the solenoid pack. I might take that off and exchange it, thats easy enough to do. A little back ground on this, the car has been sitting for 8 months i am going thru it now bringing it back to life. Gas prices as high as they are this is an easy alternative. I am in the process of replaceing all the joint and tie rod ends right now, then to shocks and struts. So i am hoping that the tranny isn't shot. I have a hard time believing it is cuz it shifts very nice most of the time. Thanks for the response.
