2003 Neon SXT Help
Recently I started getting the oil pressure light coming on when I first start the car for the day. Usually on second start up its gone.
I've had an intermittent EVAP CEL for quite some time so the engine light is on sometimes and off sometimes. I decided to check it the other day since I've been getting the oil pressure light quite a bit and now in addition to P0441 I have P0522.
I've read that a common remedy to this code is to change the oil pressure switch so I plan on doing that but that is not my reason for writing today.
This morning the wife and I went out grocery shopping and on the way home we noticed the car was riding a little rough at times, some sputtering on acceleration. By the time we got home it had cleared itself up so we didn't think anything of it.
A little later she left for work and called me a short time later. The car would no longer move and eventually the engine died and she was stuck in the middle of the street. She said the car wouldn't start up. She called a tow truck and I picked her up and took her the rest of the way to work. I got back home as the tow truck driver was finishing dropping the car off. He said the car started fine and and he was able to get it to move as well so he wasn't sure what was wrong. I was able to get the car started as well.
The sh*tkicker of it all is that the CEL wasn't on last night or this morning or even after the tow dropped it off. I checked the codes though and they are both stored in there.
What can be going on? Can all this be related to P0522 and a possible bad oil pressure switch?
Sorry for the long novel but if there is something I can do to remedy this instead of spending money at a repair place please help me out!
Thanks!

A little update....story changed a bit. Wife told me there were times on the way to work when the car would lurch when she would get close to 40 MPH. The engine never did turn off but she said when she was slowing down for a stop the car slowed down a lot faster than she was pushing on the brake. She said the car came to a stop and wouldn't go any more.
I went out and started the car up a little while ago and it starts fine and I was able to drive it around the parking lot. I parked again but left the car running and opened the hood to take a look. I closed the hood and sat back in the drivers seat ready to turn the car off when I started to hear something I would describe as a cross between a grinding and a rattling. It eventually stopped. I put the car in gear and the car would not move. I switched to 1 and then also 3 and same result, no moving. I switched to reverse and the same, no moving. I sat there for a couple minutes letting it run. I put it back in to drive and the car moved. I switched between the other gears and it was fine and then all of a sudden the grinding rattling noise came back and the car wouldn't move again.
Transmission issues?
