P1689 and 0171
P1689 Type Powertrain - Manufacturer Controlled DTC - Manufacturer Controlled Description Traction Control Delivered Torque Output Circuit Conditions Cause Engine speed over 500 rpm, T/C system has failed, engine runtime 20 seconds and no Delivered Torque Output signal were received _____ P0171 System Too Lean What does the 1st code actually mean? What is making both codes come up? What can i do to fix them?
Possible causes of P0171:
RESTRICTED FUEL SUPPLY LINE
FUEL PUMP INLET STRAINER PLUGGED
FUEL PUMP MODULE
O2 SENSOR
O2 SIGNAL CIRCUIT
O2 RETURN CIRCUIT
O2 SENSOR HEATER OPERATION
THROTTLE POSITION SENSOR SWEEP
MAP SENSOR OPERATION
ECT SENSOR OPERATION
ENGINE MECHANICAL PROBLEM
FUEL CONTAMINATION/EXHAUST LEAK
P1689...I get as "No Communication Between ECM & Injection Pump Module" which is for diesels AFAIK?

Lean mixture first -
Check the fuel rail for pressure and flow. If pressure is good and flow is low, check the filter. If the filter is OK, check for a pinched fuel line.
T/C -
Maybe a bad connection/damaged wire? OBD II also lists this code as "Battery disconnected in the last 50 starts" code.
Have you been on any dirt roads or heard stuff bouncing off the underside of the car?
