Default Ground wire going to front strut?

Hey y'all, I've been wondering what this wire is doing(What's it's job, and why only on one side?), Recently another Member over @ bobistheoilguy asked:
"What does the ground wire going from the front strut to the body actually do. I noticed it broken on my wife's Dodge neon and it appears to have been broken for some time now but hasn't caused any issues."
so i said I'd cross post over here to see if i could find anything out.

thanks in advance.

I read somewhere it's for the radio ground I would reconnect it anyway you can. I saw another neon and there is supposed to be a black cover over the whole that leads to the motor mount bolt on the other side well that's what hold it on to the frame. Makes sense?

just fix them mine was busted before I replaced the spindle so I re opened the connection, soldered it and added some heat shrink over it. Never noticed any difference but it was a simple fix while I had the whole drivers side suspension out figured why not.

Mine's like that and hasn't given me any issues so I just leave it alone.

Supposedly some thing about it preventing static build up that might shorten the life of the wheel bearings...or some similar ridiculousness.

Yeah it's supposed to protect the wheel bearings and transmission bearings from becoming a source to ground.

When bearings are grounded they tend to spark and get fried..

Not sure how true it is but they have been broken ever since I've had the car and nothing bad has happened yet..
