Default Alternator Interchange

I am getting conflicting information on alternators. Some places list 98-99 and 2003-05 non turbo as the same and others list the 2000-02 and 2003-05 non turbo as the same. I thought I read somewhere that they changed alternators in 2000 with the 2nd gen. Had problems with them and changed them in 2003 to the ones they used in 98-99. Just want to know what I can pull one from in the junk yard to replace mine on a 2003, left it sit all winter and its seized up with 180K miles on it.

I put one from a 2000 or 2001 into mine and it works fine. The 2.4L turbo engines had a different one: you can even put in a non-turbo PT alternator. Cheap high-output alt!

That makes it easier at the junk yard, not much newer than 02-03 here for cheap. Forgot about PT, same thing under the skin.

I'll be picking up a PT alt one of these days. I need a HO one for my new stereo system. It's kind of a hidden treasure as a lot of people have to pay hundreds to have a 120A alt made for their car.
