Question Idea?

Just wondering if i decide to paint my valve cover what kind of paint should i use? and it seems like it would be easier if i just took it off and replaced the seal as well. Just looking for some inputs.

-Well you should definitely one of the high temp engine paints. Just check the label to make sure you can use it on plastics. Also, removing the valve cover and degreasing it will help the paint adhere better, plus it will just make the job look better overall. No overspray on your engine or wiring/hoses.

I used the $1 paint from Wal Mart on it after I cleaned it off and it hasn't had any issues. I wouldn't suggest doing it though. Definitely take it off, degrease it, wash it with soapy water, sand it with 320-400 grit, 2 coats of primer, 2-3 coats of color, 2-3 coats of clear. Expect for it to take all day to do so you don't rush things. Once it's clean, DO NOT touch it with your bare hands, sweat, or anything else. If you do that the paint won't stick in those spots and look like chit.

Not necessarily the best idiom for such a project, lol (you don't want to paint on cool, high moisture days).
