Exclamation engine is louder than before during acceleration

i have a 2004 dodge neon with 172k miles on it. i just recently ( June 25th 2012) changed my power steering belt and 1 out of the 3 power steering belt pulleys due to a chip in the pulley and it was shredding the belt. it was running perfectly fine until 3 days later ( June 28th ) when the power steering belt broke on my way home from work. when i got home i took a closer look at what could have made the belt broke and noticed that the power steering belt tensioner pulley was bad. i bought me a new power steering belt and a power steering belt tensioner pulley and took it to a professional to put the parts on. i picked my car up from the garage today and i noticed when i press the gas to accelerate, the engine is louder than what it was before i took it to the garage. what could it possibly be?

I couldn't imagine any of the parts replaced would cause your car to do that.

Were the bearings bad in the old tensioner or was there a different reason it was replaced?

i replaced the tensioner pulley because it had a rough spot on it that caused my serpentine belt to break. could it be possible that the new tensioner pulley could be bad?
