Did that already :-/. But I sold it to my roommate. I've pretty much accepted that it's a rod bearing that's about to go out or is already out. Putting in the lucas oil additive made it almost go away completely. So I'm pretty sure it's a rod knock.

mine kinda sounds like that...If it doesnt hurt performence then dont worrie about it. I've got 233110 miles on my engine and I dont know how many others tore it up. I do know the timing belt was done at 215000. and cam sensor. ( other things too). I was so worried about that noise I droped the pan and changed no1 Cylinders connecting rod bearing with sealed power bearings and my old bearings are ok...I have pics but i cant post on here....If you'd like to see em ill email to you I also have a video on U-tube of them...so that noise isnt bearings...I think its rings...

Regardless. This thread is outdated anyway. Like I said, it's not my problem anymore. It's not my car. That car had more problems than that. I am now a proud owner of a 2005 SXT, and I couldn't be happier.

@Moparkyle: I put it in when my car was a quart low, instead of at the oil change. It made it quieter and I could barely hear it. But it returned a few days later. Probably just because it was a thicker oil. Or it was an upper knock. But I heard it from the oil pan, not the head.
