Default HO alternator and PCM question

Hi all.

I have about 2500 RMS watts of audio equipment in my car. I've already run 1/0 gauge wire throughout the car, etc, so everything is set up correctly.

I plan on purchasing and installing a 250 amp alternator. I know that the voltage regulator is located inside the PCM and isn't serviceable. Basically what I'm asking is will the PCM allow me to use the full 250 amps, or will it tone it down because it thinks it's too high?

pcm has some small wiring for sure, good question though

At one time in my neon I had two old school rockford power 1000's running 2, 18 subs & 4 separates. Stock alt, walmart battery, med sized cap, 1/0 ground and power and never had charging probs. But with a/c on high, 105 degrees outside, sitting in 5pm traffic jam blasting some Too $hort....

I'm sure the volt reg was severely working some OT but never had an issue. Now this system is in my boat with a 54amp alt with marine paint O.o and does just fine, but rule of thumb right before you stop letting the alt spool up a minute or two before getting to your destination was the trick to never having a no start issue.

now days I can't get the rattles out of the car lol

My main problem was that I burnt up a stock alternator, and then I burnt up a 150 amp alternator that I bought. So now I'm going for the 250, I'm positive that will be able to handle the system.

My step up: (RMS watts)
1500 watt amp running two 700x2 watt 12 inch subs at 1 ohm

1000 watt amp running two 200x2 watt 10 inch subs at 4 ohms to receive less power

Fused 1/0 power back to D-block then 4 awg to the amps. 1/0 ground all throughout the car, except in the trunk which is 1/0 to D-block then 4 awg to the amps.

I had it running 1/0 from alternator, to starter, to battery and then 1/0 from battery back to the trunk.

I recently switched it from 1/0 from alternator to amps in trunk, stock wiring to starter, then 1/0 from starter to battery.

Which wiring diagram would you recommend?

In all my 25 years of car stereo mods (.02) I've never burned up an Alt from mods, fried a few bearings in them from intense heat, Either wiring dia works, less lengths of cable is always better for grounds, even block to chassis helped with noise I've noticed in my own upgrades. And breaker fuses were the best buck spent. Now day's I've put it all in my boat and cooling fans to keep the amps cool is my issue lol, guess we will see this winter if that's the real deal. What else did you use with the huge alt?

Nothing else, just sound equipment.
