My Neon makes the exact same noise, I'm assuming that the other link you posted about rod bearings means you've changed them all ready?

Mine does the same thing too. Oil pressure is fine and it doesn't give me any bs so I'll just deal with it until I rebuild it.

^^ that's what my thoughts were, it's being doing it for over 40k miles.

ya thats after i did the bearings... it was the same before. I think its cam noise/ rockers.

Lifter knock is common for these cars. I also have 170k miles and drive it like I stole it.
