Just purchased a wrecked 2004 Neon SXT to repair for my daughters 1 st car. Can not get to start. Battery ok, starter ok, wondering what little round light above engine light means. Comes on when you turn key, goes off short time, but comes back on and stays on but does not attempt to crank over.

 

If it is red it is the SKIM light which is the vehicles security system. A lot of people have had to replace the SKIM module for this problem but it could easily be something else, even something as simple as the key you are using.

 

yea, u need to use the key with the chip in it... says neon on the key or your car wont start... beleive me i used a made key 4 the door as a spare to start the car and it started then died imetiatly... it in the owners manual..
