Default Timing issues

Ok so I have a 03 neon with 130k on it The timing belt broke the other day while driving. Now I have bought a new belt and got it in time to the best of my knowledge. The car starts up but in park or neutral revs high drops a little when you put in reverse or drive. While idling it kind of studders and if you try and drive it when you give it adequate amount of gas its like it boggs down.. Could this be from bent valves? If so whats the best way to fix this problem?

If it's bent valves, there is only one way to fix the problem: replace them. I believe you would perform a leak-down test to check the valves? Someone please correct me if that is wrong.

Yes, compression test first to make sure that the problem is in fact a compression problem then proceed to leak down test.
