So my timing belt busted the other day.
Well after an agonizing day of taking apart everything to get to the timing belt, i get snared at the harmonic balancer.
I have the HB puller but the problem is when my TB busted it cracked the TB cover, my timing belt is all tangled only from behind the Harmonic Balancer and i cant get the HB puller to fit into place because the belt is pushing the busted cover against the HB. I tried grabbing it out with needle nose, vise grips. etc.
it wouldn't be that hard if i had room to work but limited space is killing me.

ANY IDEAS ON HOW TO GET THE TIMING BELT OUT OF THERE???

BTW ITS ON A 2001 DODGE NEON.

 

The only thing that holds that timing belt cover on is two bolts at the bottom, so if it's already busted, maybe you can pull up on the cover to get it off. You might have better luck getting the belt off with the cover out of the way. Sounds like you'll have to replace the cover anyway. I hope you're planning on taking the head off to replace the bent valves.

 

lol.. I personally hate how limited the space of the engine bay is.

 

he might get lucky and have not bent any valves... u never know
