Hi ,The steering on my 2000 Neon ( 130000 miles seems to be stiff and heavy . I have checked the normal things like like fluid , tyre pressure etc, but all Ok . Just put new shocks all round and also changed the front control arms . I read on another forum that 04 dodges had problems with steering linkages . To be honest ,i don,t really remember if the steering was always heavy . Just recently started to drive this car again. Any ideas from you guys ? thanks . Rod

 

The steering on a 2000 Dodge Neon is quite heavy actually.
I drove my sister 2000 Dodge Neon, and it felt like I'm steering a truck.

How heavy is your? If it's too heavy, then you definitely need to check that out.

 

same here my 200 feels heavier then my 03 Hemi Quad cab, even with all new steering components... just to be sure you can jack the car up with the front wheels off the ground and with the engine off turn the wheel manually to see if there is any binding, it should turn rather easy, even if you got down on the ground and grabbed the tire to rotate the steering back an forth.

 

That's odd. Mine feels like a truck but that's because I don't have power steering. Is this something that just started happening or has it been like this since you got the car?
