It's a Chrysler, same thing though. I am pretty sure it's a 3 speed, but is there a good way to tell? I only have D, 2 and 1 on the gear box, no overdrive.

2000-2001 Neons had a 3 speed hydraulic transmission. 02-05 had a 4 speed electronic.

I'm sure your car is a 3 speeds.
The only solenoid it has is the solenoid that control the TCC (Torque Converter Clutch). That is why I told you to unplug the TCC connector.
A sticking TCC will not disengage once it's engaged. If so, your car will idle very low, or stall at stop lights. No power until rpm is higher. If it's engage/disengage many times, you feel your car jerks.

All the shifting, changing gears on your car is controlled by a hydraulic system, and mechanical components such as trans throttle valve linkage, governor, ... The computer has nothing to do with it.

Without putting your car into gears (in Park), how does your engine runs?
Did you revved it?

If you had a car accident. A lot of things can fail, or will soon fail on your car.
I only had scratches/dents on my bumpers, and my water hose broke 2/3 weeks later. The radiator is leaking now. Suspension making noises. ...

Since you had a car accident. You should check on the throttle linkage.
Misaligned throttle linkage can make your car upshift/downshift at the wrong time. Shifting feel hash.
Some car use vacuum hose, and trans modulator, but I think dodge Neon has throttle linkage.

It runs great in Park and revving it up doesnt studder at all. Only when load is put on it. The more you talk about the TCC though I feel as if that may be it, everything you are saying makes sense.

I will look for how to unplug the TCC today, I'll post a pic if I can't find it though, unless someone already has a picture that would be awesome.

And yea I know there are things that are gonna go wrong on it after the accident. My goal is to keep it going through winter and get something new in the spring/summer when my fiancee is done her education degree and starts substituting. We are just very low on cash right now and can't afford anything sadly

Would this not throw any code though? THe CEL hasn't gone on at all yet. Quite difficult to troubleshoot without one! haha

It's behind the trans dipstick tube.
If I remember, it's a connector with 2 wires. Black/orange, and white/blue (Or white/green).

Hmm the only thing I see down near the dipstick is a black cable that appears to be the throttle control as it comes up back to the TB intake.

Is it something I should be able to get to without removing a bunch of stuff first? Or from up top or down below?
