Default stalling problem

i have an 04 neon sxt automatic. this is the second time ive stalled. what happens is that when i come up to a stoplight, every once in a great while ill be sitting there with it in drive and all of a sudden feel the car start to shake violently. after 3-5 sec. of this shaking it just stalls, everything shuts off and its dead. i then have to put it in park and restart it. after that its ok and doesnt happen for like another month or two. now get this, after the first of it stalling, i figured out that as soon as i feel the car start to shake violently, i take my foot off the brake let it roll a little (like 5ft) apply the brake again and the shaking stops and no stall,

NOW WTF COULD BE GOIN ON HERE? HELP!!!!!!

I'm not for sure...but sounds like a vacuum problem maybe. I personally would just take to dealer and let them tinker with it as long as you're still under warranty which you should be if its an 04.

Here is an interesting problem. My car would randomly out of no where have problems in the dash board. Basically it would say i was low on gas, but no gas light would be on, it would say im going 0mph, it would say my car is completely cool. Everything on the speedometer would go to the lowest setting there was although those were not the true settings. I already tried changing the alternator and battery and ever since i changed the alternator, it would do it less but still do it. Also, i noticed that if i DON"T leave the lights on, my battery over charges so during the day i leave my lights on if not the battery light comes on.

I've been driving like this for more than a month and the car runs fine. However, just last night i turned on my car, and right away the dashboard acts up and locks to the lowest setting again just seconds after i turn it on. reading that my car is completely cold, no gas, and 0 mph, 0 rpm. so i decide to turn off my car, and turn it on again but what happends now is that it will crank and turn on but then just turns off within 2 seconds, and my left light now does not work.

any feedback please let me know. thanks

I'm having a similar problem. My wife has a 04 SXT and has been doing this for about a week now. It doesnt seem like there are any certain conditions that cause it. It seems random. At low speeds 40- it has completely died without warning several times. The other day I drove it on a long road trip and it almost happened. I was going about 60 mph and the car seemed like it went into neutral. The car still had power but when I pressed the gas it just revved and then a second or two later the drivetrain responded and all was back to normal. Does anyone have any idea what this problem could be? I have been thinking maybe the alternator since I did a load test on the battery and it checked out good, but with the latest problem it almost seems like there is a transmission problem. Then again could it possibly be any of the pulleys or tensioners malfunctioning causing the belt to slip? I sprayed belt dressing on the belt at the waterpump pulley and was able to drive about 300 miles before experiencing the new "neutral problem". I've been hearing a rough sound that reminds me of rusty bicycle bearings coming from the belt area of the engine bay as well. PLEASE HELP!!
