going to switch to synthetic oil

I'm running walmarts full synthetic 5/20, then adding 1/2 a quart @ 3k & changing it @ 8k or right when it needs a another 1/2 But I have no change in perf. or mpg when I switched so for the price its cheaper still to run non synthetic with regular change intervals. Soon as it gets to where I need to add more then 1/2 I'll move to 5/30 and see if that cuts down on consumption when parked lol

just wondering WHY you are switching to Synthetic? unless you are wanting to extend your drain intervals up to 7500-10k mi(backed up with UOA's), there is really no need for it in a neon.
Mine has seemed happiest with SOPUS Products,(Quakerstate,Pennzoil, Formula Shell, etc) and a Quakerstate filter (Which like the Mopar Filters are just Purolator Classics with a different paint job) which i can get for $3.02 after tax @ my local Menards, unless they have it on sale cheaper.

Nothing wrong with wix, have a few in my stash currently.
out of curiosity, how cold does it get where you live?
if you are worried about cold flow, why not 0w30?
that will stay flowable down to like -40.
Advance auto parts has the whole Castrol Edge line (including 0w30 "German Castrol") on BOGO untill the end of Jan.

I use Mobil-1 Advanced Synthetic 5W-20 in my '05. I agree with everyone else on here that it extends the change interval. I am, however going to go the extra mile next month and try out Royal Purple just to see if it's all what it says (allegedly +~5HP). I ran conventional in my '99 Dakota simply because it was older and used the older style of cam/crank (12 valve V6). I also used synthetic in my '00 Neon because it was SOHC. I used synthetic in my mom's '05 Tucson because it states so in the user manual to use (the Hyundai equivalent of) synthetic.
It's a personal preference, honestly. I would use synthetic in 2GN neons, if they have a relatively low mileage (<150K) and a conventional in a higher mileage Neon.
