Hello,

I need some help. Over the last couple of years my '05 Neon's check engine light has come on quite frequently. The first time it was because of the spark plugs and the second time it was apparently the spark plugs also. It cam on again last year because of the O2 sensor which got replaced, then more recently it came on and was blinking, and misfiring, and that turned out to be the cam and crank shaft. That last one was a little over a month ago. The check engine light is now on again. It is blinking and when I start to excelerate it doesn't want to excelerate. What is going on with my car?? I recently hit 100,000 miles. It is at about 100800 miles. I hope someone on here can give me some answers.

If you can tell us what fault codes you have, I'm sure we will be better able to help you. You can use the following procedure to check your codes. Turn the ignition key all the way forward - not to the point where the car starts, just to the point where all the lights come on. Do it in this sequence: ON-OFF-ON-OFF-ON. Keep a close eye on your odometer. You will see a series of codes display, followed by the word "donE"...these codes will help to diagnose your car.

 

The codes that came up were P0300 and P0355.

 

Sounds like you have a bad ignition coil. That's a fairly cheap and easy repair.
