Can't dim headlights while driving
Hey everyone. I saw some good answers to various problems I've had in the past, and I'm hoping you all might have some insight to my current problem.
Let me start by saying that I have a 2000 Dodge Neon. I just got it back a few days ago after taking it in to get new tires, an alignment, and replace a left inner tie rod. A few nights later (the first time I drove at night after getting my car back) I turned the brights on. A few minutes later a car was approaching in the oncoming lane, so I pulled the switch to switch back to the dim+fog lights. Nothing happened. The bright indicator remained on, the high beams remained on, and the fog lights did not come on.
A few days (of daytime driving only) later, the problem is still there. When I turn the headlights on, it defaults to brights, and I cannot switch to regular lights.
A little more information:
-I can turn the headlights off altogether (I've seen issues where people's lights stay on no matter what). Switching the **** to the "headlights off" or "parking lights" (the orange ones - whatever their official name is) position still turns them off
-I do not have auto DRLs (daytime running lights). If I want lights during the day, I manually have to turn them on.
-I have not yet contacted the shop which performed the tire and tie rod work.
Hopefully someone can shed a little light (yes, bad pun) on the situation, I would be grateful.

Thanks for your reply. Would that mean replacing the entire harness and **** that comes out of the steering column, or just the little box where it plugs into? I don't really know much about this, just what I've gathered from a bit of research tonight.
Edit: I'm assuming this is the part you're talking about

Ill be sure to check the plug that connects to this, as I've seen several of them melted to the point where multiple connectors could come in contact.

That's the part, yes. Check the connector too, yes. If it's not melted, you should be able to get away with just the switch. If it is, well, then you are going to be getting into the harness a bit.
