Default Quick question about a 2001 neon se part.

Hey guys!

Just a quick question I have a 2001 dodge neon se (manual transmission) and the back up lights don't turn on when I go in reverse. I know its not the bulbs and its not the fuse.

Can some one tell me the name of the part that I should look for? I know its in the transmission box. Looking for backup sensor yielded, well sensors. So I'm out of Ideas.

Reverse lamp switch. It's pretty easy to replace, actually. Remove the intake(or your air cleaner box), it should be the first sensor you see on the tranny. It's down, front, right. It has a blue connector if I remember correctly.

Replace that sensor. Shouldn't take more than a few minutes to replace.

Thank you so much we found it! we also found that thats where we had a leak we were looking for the longest time. I'm trying to buy it from ebay but cant find it. (I live overseas) and ebay is the best option for me but I couldn't find it.

found this https://pontiworld.com.au/uschrysler...roducts_id/587 but seems a bit pricey. I wonder if I can find another manufacturer selling it.

Well, $45 USD isn't really that much. Especially for that part. Granted I'm sure you have import fees and such on top of that. That's pretty much "par" as far as that part goes.

dang, if only i'd seen this a couple days ago...yesterday i went to a DIY junk yard (Pick-n-pull), to get some bits for my neon. the had 4-5 2nd gens there, mostly 00-01, but i think all with autos...but they would have to have a similar switch, yes? (one was even a Chrysler SX 2.0 - Canadian market)

so far as I can tell, it would have been about $12.99 US. (plus shipping of course).
heck i even pulled the airbox from one, so the part would've been right there. dang.

and sorry, no, i can't run back out there and grab it, I was in another town 100 miles from home, with some time to kill.

Well if you guys think thats the normal price ill have to go for it. I would ask a friend to do the junkyard one but it would be a gamble there is no way i can return it in time if the part is faulty. Thank you so much for the quick replies! you all have been very helpful.
