Looks like one of the bushings on my right control arm is worn out too, wonder if that's causing the creaking sound

if it's worn you can spray white lithium grease in there to quiet it for a day or so but that will help you diagnose the noise coming from. strut isolators can make the same creaking sound i've discovered on mine

I was checking out the grounds today, and I noticed that the ground strap attached to the battery cable (behind the transmission dipstick tube) is grimey and split in a small section, think this could be an issue?

you can clean the grime with wd40 & a rag, dont do it with a hot eng/exhaust though! If the grounds not making good connections @ ALL the grounds charging probs etc occur, atleast on mine it did

Replaced the alternator, cleaned the grounds that I could see (not underneath the battery plate) and the flickering lights was still there. Mechanic load tested the original alternator and it was definitely over charging the battery (jumping over 15v) the new one strangely is more consistent (hovers around 14.2-14.7v tops) load testing puts it around 13 before climbing back up to 14. So, I suppose that's good. Only things I can think of now are the grounds and fuses.
