neon starts and doesnt start

Smile neon starts and doesnt start

I have a 2001 dodge neon

147000 miles

today I go to start it and it wont start I sit and wait then start it then it starts.

then I go to shut it off and try to start it, it wont start I try and try

I push on the clutch pedal break pedal .it in neutral still wont start
I can hear the fule pump turn on for second try to start and it wont start.
I sit for a minuet. then the car would start up ...

any ideas its a five speed manuel

Smile started it

well I was out there and started it 6 times it turns over good..

though I had my foot on the clutch pedal and didn't tak it off

..I want too take it to the shop

WHAT SHOULD I HAVE THEM LOOK AT..THE FUEL PUMP FUEL FILTER
THE STARTER WAS REPLACED NOT TOO LONG AGO..
THE BATTERY FINE NO CLICKING SOUND

I THINK IT HAS TO DO WITH THE CLUTCH PEDAL BUT NOT SURE

When you say it doesn't start, is the engine cranking over? If so, I'd have your fuel pressure checked. Might be a bad fuel pressure regulator if the pressure isn't correct.

Smile neon not starting

when I have the key in push on the clutch pedal turn the key its like nothing at all .the engine wont even crank..i have the key turn and nothing happens at all

Smile not starting

well I found out the problem,i have to really push the clutch pedal in all the way..
the clutch was put in last year by owner,shift great

now does the pedal need to be push in all the way...can a shop adjust the pedal or is this normal for a neon manueal

I have to push the clutch pedal in all of the way on my car, and every other manual transmission car I've ever driven. That's the way it is supposed to work. If you could start a manual without pushing the clutch all of the way in (completely disengaging it) and you left it in gear, the car would jump forward into whatever was in front of you...say a parked car in a parking lot.
