'04 Dodge Neon SXT 3.0L Swap?
Hi, I have an '04 Neon SXT and I was wondering if anyone could shed some light on doing a 2001 Dodge Stratus R/T 3.0L V6 swap into my little buddy.
I have seen a few posts around on the forums about how it could fit, it would just be a tight fit.
I know it would obviously be a better option to just find a banged up salvage Stratus/Neon/Cruiser SRT-4 but all of those are currently out of my price range as a Freshman in college. Whereas a much cheaper 3.0L V6 R/T has become readily available.
Granted I know there are a few less engine mods I would be able to install or even find for the 3.0L V6 unless I use some Eclipse parts. But wouldn't the 200HP and 205 torque go a long way in my 2626 pound Neon as compared to the 3012 pound Stratus its in now(I couldn't find the chassis and engine weights separately).
If anyone has done the swap please respond!!!

what SXTspeed said..
if you want to put a different powerplant in a neon, your best bet is gonna be the 2.4 from the PT , whether NA, or turbo. it's the same engine used in the srt-4 model, and will bolt right up.
now for fantasy land swaps, in a video game I used to play, (Forza Motorsport 3), they would let you swap in the 3.6 from the crossfire, and go all-wheel drive. but both would cost thousands(if not tens of thousands) in fab work alone in the real world.
it boils down to you can put any engine into any car you want to, if you throw enough money at it.

There was a neon owner that crammed a 3.3 (I think) into a 1st gen. He used a Stratus tranny, and some other suspension parts. He said that the result was a crap load of torque, but not much of an improvement on speed.
and there are guys out there, with more time/money on their hands than sense, who have put a Hemi in a PT Cruiser, or a ford 4.6 modular from a Mustang GT into a focus.
heck a few years back, i saw a "kit" to fit a Chevy LT series engine. into a Old VW beetle.
But if you have the time, the money, and the know how, go for it.
