whats the best brand of oil for my dodge neon it has 150000 miles . right now I am using vavaline max high mile 10w 40.. is that a good brand

 

-Everybody has their own "best brand." Any of the big names should work just fine. I've run 5w20 Pennzoil Platinum in my '05 SXT since i bought it with 19k on it. Now she has 139k and still doesn't smoke or drip oil. 10w40 may be a bit heavier than needed, but if it's running good, then there's no reason to change it. But if you start getting a lot of valve noise at start ups when it gets cold out, then I'd at least drop it down to 10w30 or even 5w30.

as AnthemBassMan said, any of the majors would be fine.
the max life is fine, but unless it's leaking, or burning oil, there's not really a need for a "high mileage" oil.
yours is an '03(guessing by your username), it should be spec'd for 5w30. depending on where you are located, the 10w40 might be a bit thick in winter months.
mine's an '05, spec'd for 5w20 and i't had most of your Major brand dino oils (in 5w20) over it's 85k.
in my experience, going by my "Butt Dyno" it's seemed happiest with regular Pennzoil (Yellow Bottle)

for the money, you really can't go wrong with Pennz. and a Purolator Filter, or even a Motorcraft fl400-s ( as wrong as it might seem to run a ford filter on a dodge, they are great, well made filters for a very reasonable price - ~$4 @ wally world), as long as you aren't lowered, the fl400-s is taller than our standard filter, will hang down lower. (but no lower than if you were running the larger filter the SRT-4 uses, same size.)

 

If the high mileage oil is the same price as the regular stuff (or a dollar or so more, depending how frugal you are), you may as well get it. It's got extra additives in there. As for weight, I'd have gone to 10W30 before 10W40, but if everything is fine, don't fix what isn't broken!
