Default changing the shifter ****?

New to the forum.I love reading how much you can do to a neon.I have a 2000 and at the moment all I want to do is change the stock shifter **** and cannot figure out a decent way to get it off.I have heard of cutting+burning it off but that is not something I wish to do.Any ideas on how I should go about this.I really can't stand how the stock shifter gets sticky when it gets hot in the Summer. Thanks for any help.

I never did this myself. But others have said you have to push down (with a good amount of pressure) on it and then turn to the left or right to get it to come off. Good luck.

Is it an auto (ATX) or manual (MTX) Transmission? The MTX u just push down and twist. You do have to push kinda hard, but its pretty cake. Youll figure that out. As for the ATX Im not really sure how to get those off. I think there is a screw you have to remove, least there was on my old cavalier. Hope all goes well!
