Default Building a sleeper

my 2000 Neon LE MTX is pretty fun to drive even while stock. What I'd like to do is to give it a bit more pep while still remaining quiet and inconspicous.

Wires, spark plugs, timing belt have already been taken care of.

AEM CAI is on the way.

What I'd like to know is what muffler would best suit my setup? I want to make as little sound as possible, most mufflers I've seen have been buzz bombs/fart cans. Any recommendations, wether they be mufflers or other parts?

Go with either the monza or the Borla. Both have a pretty mild tone at idle and up to about half gas, when you get on it, it does get loud, deep and throaty though. Don't expect a huge HP increase from any exhausts, maybe 3-5 HP.

yeah, I'm not expecting a huge HP gain from any one part, but through the sum of parts. I just want to keep this looking and sounding stock.

Honest to god, i have thought this through and i myself am building a nice quiet monster. Now... conclusions i have made about Neons will follow in order i thought of them.

1.) no matter what we do to our cars, everyone will still think its an easy kill on the streets and tracks. This, being why i never bothered to shave off my badges. I love the car, and will wear the badge with respect.
2.) As with number one, you could have as much stuff loaded on that thing as possible, you'll still only get the cheap races most of the time from the wanna-be's and people who think stickers add HP.
3.) Our cars have a bad rep of being a granny car, main reasons for numbers above. I think everyone here on this forum that has even done a minor mod to the engine deserves props and kudo's. I mean, its this rep that has got me spinnin my tires at stop lights kicking little kids butts cuz they think they can race...
4.) go all out on the engine cuz no one who has common street logic (which is practically half of the people out there) wont care none-the-less have any idea what kinda horse power your car can and will push.

People, i may be talking out of my ***, but god honest truth is american cars today just dont get the props they could and should. it drives me nuts. Sure, the neon may be at a low end of the totem pole... but with some care and attention they can be some rediculously nice cars.

Eh, im so off topic now. To gather back on topic...

Get some good top quality engine mods. Im just going with a bunch of stuff that for the meantime wont void my good warranty i got with the car. The second its gone, im going with probably a 2.4 turbo for the little guy. Becuase, gods honest truth... on the streets the poor thing aint got the cred it needs and should get.

Hey man pretty much any muffler you get, sounds good with the silencer out but if you keep it in its not very loud and it has a nice rumble to it?
