Default Compatible Manual Trans for Neons ?

I have a 2000 Neon 5-speed. I dropped the cam sensor bolt into the tranny(why there is a 2x1 opening on the tranny is beyond me, probably a missing gasket or cover) I need to go get a junkyard trans because i dont have nearly enough money to get a new one or order one and nobody in the area is selling one. So, what other year neons have a direct fit replacement trans for my car. i know the pt loser is similar but is it the same t-350 trans ? If someone with the proper knowledge could post a list of every year make and model car with the same trans i would appreciate it. I'd also love an opinion as to which Year had the best gear ratios( ive read elsewhere that the 2002 neon had a good one)
Any input is much appreciated

You can use any 2nd Gen Neon manual transmission. As far as "best gear ratios," are you looking for performance ratios, MPG ratios (final drive) or both?

01-04 R/T and ACR T-350 transmissions with a 3.94 ratio and 0.81 final. 2002 and up PT's had a 3.94 but with a 0.72 final. 01-02 Neons had the 3.55 ratio with 0.81 final. 03-05 Neons had the 3.55 with a 0.72 final.

Depending when your car was made, Neons up to 02/2000 should have the 3.55 with .72 final and after 02/2000 the 3.55 with .81 final.

i was leaning more towards performance, but with the engine being how it is id like to keep the 36ish mpg highway and 28+ city. im assuming no matter what tranny i pick up ill still get close to that. Ive got to go to a junkyard to pick one up, in case i dont find a pt or a neon with a good trans...is there anything else that is also compatible? like the status or breeze(i know not many were manual as well as the neon) just dont want to leave without a working trans.
btw thanks darth for the help. your the most reliable person on these forums for info.

Did a quick search and found an Allpar article about the T350 5-speed, in which the first line says:
This document covers the five-speed manual transmission (used in the Neon, Stratus, Breeze, Avenger, Sebring, and PT Cruiser...
I'm assuming these cars use the same transmission then. Allpar is on top of their Mopar game, lol.
