Stumped 3 mechanics so far
Well I had high hopes for the crankshaft sensor to solve my problem. After one good drive in the heat of the day....the problem came back....at a stop sign a block from home. I was almost in the garage w/out incident. So my search continues. I purchased a cam shaft sensor as well oddly enough. I just felt the two were related some how. I wanted to try one before the other to get a result.
I had this problem with a Focus. Ran fine until the weather hit 85 degrees, and than everything you described happened to me.
Solution (after 3 summers):
Fuel Pump
The pump was running hot year-round, and normally, the gas would keep it from get too hot. Add the high temps, and the pump overheats quickly.
