I just bought a 2005 neon SXT. I went to put gas in for the first time and found that the area behind the gas cap door is completely loose. Its not attached to the body and I cant see how or what is missing. The cap is tight and goes on and off but the entire assembly can be pushed into the quarter panel. Can I see this from inside the trunk if I remove the cover? how hard is this to fix the area is kind of small to work in. Please help I need to know if this is something I can fix myself as money is tight especially after buying the car. I don't need any big dealer expenses right now. Please help as soon as you can Thanks Redsl.

 

I fixed it was very easy. someone had the plastic piece that connects the filler head in the wrong way. I disconnected it took it out and installed it from the outside in and then put screws back to filler neck. worked perfect
