DIY Security
I'm looking to do some of my own security. My 1997 Neon was stolen, and I was hoping to secure my 2000 Neon a bit better. I've already got club for my steering wheel, beyond that, I'd like to wire a switch to the fuel pump or through the starter so that it won't turn over until the switch has been triggered. Has anyone done anything like this? Which would be better, to wire it through the starter so that the guy thinks that it's got a chipped key (engine won't turn over), or should I wire it through the fuel pump so that the engine will turn over, attracting attention but won't get anywhere? Opinions, flaws, recommendations? Discuss:
Is there a reason you don't want to go with a full alarm? You can do all kinds of cool stuff with a good alarm, including isabling the items you mentioned.
Either one would work, I would disable the fuel pump if it were me.
Do you have remote power locks, by any chance? You could set it up with a relay system that would only allow power to the fuel pump after you unock the car with the remote, and kill the power when you used the remote to lock the car.
Past that, there are plenty of places to hide a switch, and they make nice low-profile (read: easy to hide) switches. I have one in my truck, but you'll never find it!

mine does not have it, nor does it have a lot of the standard options that many of todays have standard. For example, mine is an MTX and it does NOT have a tachometer, which I found really strange, most ATX cars even come with them. No power doors, no power windows, no cruise control. I'm probably going to install a few comforts, but nothing too crazy. I thought it would be nice to wire in a kill switch without having to get a full fledged car alarm. I find it annoying when someone puts a car alarm on a junk *** car and sets it on the most sensitive setting, so that a dirty look would set it off. Something homemade would be a way around the annoyance and cheaper too.
Whyte69, if your neon is a 2nd gen, It's the SE model, the base model. It doesn't come with any of the features you mentioned.
The SXT model does though, except for the full fledged alarm system.

I'm going to slowly be adding some of the missing options. I got the car for cheap, so I can afford to put the options in that I want. I'm thinking that power doors and power windows is all I'm going to bother with. Audio system and DIY Security is next.

Well a real easy one would be to get the club that you connect from the brake to the steering wheel and use the clutch pedal instead considering that you have to push the clutch in to start the car. One of my friends did that, no given the clutch pedal is easier to saw through than the brake, but it would still take 30 minutes or so of sawing.
